Mr. Salerno grew up in Long Island, NY. After high school, he joined the United States Army serving as a Nuclear and Biological Warfare Specialist in several locations. After the Army, he attended Stony Brook University and received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees. He has been teaching in the Brooklyn Diocese for 23 years with time spent at Corpus Christi School in Woodside, NY, and Immaculate Conception Academy in Astoria. He also teaches at Hofstra University Youth Academy. 

Mr. Salerno is an avid sports fan of the Jets, and Mets. He loves crossword puzzles, chess, guitar, and riding his motorcycle. 

Mr. Salerno lives in Long Island with his wife Angelina and his two daughters.
